In a tragic incident reported from Tamil Nadu's Kallakurichi district, two girls, aged 4 and 7, suffocated to death after accidentally being trapped inside a car parked outside their neighbour's house.
The girls, identified as Rajeshwari (7) and Vanitha (4), were the daughters of two farm workers from Kuladeepamangalam. They were playing outside their house on Thursday evening when they got inside the car of a neighbour named Raja. "The car which was damaged in an accident two years ago was parked in front of the neighbour’s house. All the four doors of the car can be opened from outside, but not from inside," a police officer stated, according to a report by a news agency. The girls, who were unable to unlock the car from the inside, got stuck and fell unconscious. Villagers who found the two of them lying in there immediately rushed the girls to the Tirukovilur government hospital, where the doctors declared them brought dead. "Based on an alert, we visited the village and conducted investigations. So far, none of the family members has lodged a complaint," the police reportedly further added.
Autopsy was performed on the girls and their bodies were handed over to the parents. The police have registered a case under Section 174 (Unnatural death) of CrPC and further investigation is underway.
