In a heartbreaking incident, a 15-year-old girl from Tamil Nadu's Vellore is fighting for her life as she set herself ablaze after learning that she was filmed by three men while she was bathing.

The girl was taking a shower when her three neighbouring men, aged 22, 19, and 17, recorded the video and later used the same to blackmail her. They allegedly demanded her to fulfill their sexual needs and threatened to upload the obscene video on social media if she failed to oblige. Shocked and disturbed, the girl set herself on fire when her family members were not at home. Some of her neighbours heard the girl's cries and immediately rushed her to a local government hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. The girl has suffered 90 percent burns and is receiving treatment at the Government Vellore Medical College and Hospital (GVMCH), where she is reportedly said to be in a critical condition.

The accused, identified as K Aakash, R Ganapathi, and a 17-year-old boy, have been booked under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
