A 42-year-old man from Trichy, Tamil Nadu was arrested earlier today after he was found guilty of sharing child porn content on Facebook.

The man, identified as Christopher Alphonse, has been working as an AC mechanic. He is reportedly a child porn addict and had started three social media accounts using the names Nilavan and Aadhavan to share the obscene videos. Alphonse was arrested after a complaint was filed by a police officer from the cyber-crime department, a police officer said, according to a report. "Additional Director-General of Police (crime) of the crime against women wing, M Ravi, had held a press conference a week ago in Chennai and said at least 1,500 people across the state downloaded child pornography over a period of a week in November," a report from a news agency read.

Alphonse has been booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and Section 67(a) (b) (Punishment for publishing or transmitting of material depicting children sexually explicit act) of the Information Technology Act. He has been remanded to judicial custody for 15 days.
