It was reported months ago that a man from Tamil Nadu had killed his friend after he uploaded a TikTok video of the former abusing residents of the village. He has now committed suicide apparently fearing conviction in the murder case.

The man, identified as Venkatraman from Tituttani, was reportedly found dead in the middle of bushes by the villagers of Thazhavedu. Venkatraman had allegedly killed his friend Vijay on February 22 for uploading a video of him abusing the residents of Thazhavedu, which became viral and received widespread criticism from people across the state. Angered by this, Venkatraman strangled Vijay to death the next day.

Legal action against Venkatraman was demanded by the villagers following the incident. Fear of conviction in the murder of Vijay has apparently led to the suicide. His body has been sent to a government hospital for autopsy.
