Chennai city under severe drinking water shortage received some relief as incessant rains poured from Saturday evening and continued on till late Sunday morning. N. Puviarasan the Director of the Regional Meteorological Center has stated that due to the formation of upper air circulation moderate rains can be expected at the headquarters and its neighboring districts for the next forty-eight hours.

There is good news for North Tamil Nadu as the same climatic factor will influence heavy rains especially in Vellore, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Tiruvannamalai, Krishnagiri, Dharmapuri, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Ariyalur, Pondicherry, Karaikal, Perambalur and Thiruvarur So far Vellore has witnessed heavy water logging with 15 CM rainfall and the coming days will also be the same there.
