Tamil Nadu Police stops Keralites to return to their hometown

Despite having NORKA passes and all the required documents, 30 Keralites were prevented from entering Kerala by the Tamil Nadu police. The incident happened at Kaliyakkavilai region, the Kerala-Tamilnadu border. According to the TN Police, people who are leaving to Kerala should produce a pass from Tamil Nadu as well.

The Keralites, most of them who were school teachers, were from different parts of the state and they came in separate vehicles. As they were not aware of the Tamil Nadu pass, they were stopped at the border. However, the other day, People had crossed the border without any pass from the TN government. With the alarmingly growing number of COVID-19 cases, the Tamil Nadu government has made the laws stricter and made the passes compulsory.

Meanwhile, more than 5000 Keralites from other states are expected to return to Kerala on Tuesday.
