Four men from Neyveli of the Cuddalore district in Tamil Nadu have been arrested after they allegedly raped a woman and murdered one of their "friends" after a fight broke out between them over whose turn it was to rape the woman.

The victim, who is a widow and a mother of three children, was returning from a grocery store along with her relative when a group of men spotted her. After physically assaulting and chasing away the man who had accompanied her, the men dragged her to a secluded spot and raped her. In the meantime, an argument broke out between the men over whose turn it was to molest her. This led to one of the accused, identified as Prakash, being killed by the other four men, identified as Karthik, Satish Kumar, Rajadurai, and Sivabalan.

The men fled the spot soon after and the woman, who regained consciousness after some time, made her way to the police station to file a complaint before being taken for medical examination. The accused men have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody.
