In yet another high-profile case of Covid-19 positive, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwari Lal Purohit on Sunday tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
In a statement, Kauvery Hospital said that the Governor is asymptomatic. "He is clinically stable. He underwent further tests and assessments at Kauvery Hospital, Alwarpet, Chennai, today. As the infection is mild, he has been advised home isolation and will be monitored by the medical team from our hospital," the statement read.
It may be noted that many staff members at the Raj Bhavan recently tested positive for the virus. After security personnel too tested positive, the Governor started to be in home quarantine.
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah tested positive and has since been admitted to a hospital in Delhi. His health is stable.
