The coronavirus pandemic that has been playing havoc on the lives of most people in the world for more than a year has already done the most damages. Now in India the second wave has taken flight and every day more than a lakh new cases are testing positive.

In Tamil Nadu too the number of cases each day has gone past the 4000 mark and the capital city Chennai is nearing half that number. The Tamil Nadu government has announced fresh restrictions on businesses in the state.

Accordingly, the state government with effect from April 10th has banned all religious and festival gatherings. A maximum number of 100 people with appropriate precautions will be allowed at weddings while only 50 persons will be allowed in death processions.

Cinema halls are allowed to function with 50 percent occupancy only from coming Saturday and similarly malls, jewelry shops, restaurants, and tea shops have been advised to accommodate only fifty percent of the space allowed for customers. People who are traveling in government and private buses will only be allowed to the limit of seating capacity and no standees will be entertained.

Only two persons can travel in autos and three in cabs excluding the driver and E registration system to continue for Inter-state passengers and international passengers.
