With each passing day, there is a huge spike in the cases of COVID-19 and Omicron across the Indian states and the government has been implementing various restrictions on all sectors. Tamil Nadu health minister MA Subramanian has earlier said that the third wave has started.
The TN government has announced some restrictions on December end including 50% occupancy in cinema halls, gyms, malls, restaurants, worshipping places. Now, the number of cases has multiplied rapidly in the past week. Yesterday, 2731 cases were reported in Tamil Nadu, out of which 1489 cases were from Chennai. Test positivity rate (TPR) has seen a drastic increase in recent days.
Now, sources inform us that the state government has planned to impose a complete lockdown on Sundays and night curfews. Also, we hear that the schools and colleges are set to shut down. Education minister Ponmudi has stated today that the college exams scheduled in January have been postponed. More updates on the new restrictions are awaited. Stay tuned.
