The Tamil Nadu Film Producers Council has sent a circular that there would be no new Tamil Film releases from 4th to 11th September in protest against the atrocities committed by Panneer Selvam the owner of Koyambedu Rohini theatres. It is alleged that Panneer Selvam has formed a syndicate of dubious persons and is trying to illegally stop the release of Vishal`s Paayum Puli` and trying to extort a huge amount from the producer.

It is further stated that if the issues are not resolved after 11th September all film exhibition will be stopped throughout the state indefinitely. The council has also sought government intervention in the conflicts.
