Nearly 27 students of a private school in Dharapuram in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur district have tested positive for Covid-19, according to the state health department.

Officials reportedly took swab samples of 374 individuals, of which 27 of them had tested positive for the virus. The school will be closed for a week for disinfection. The health department also ensured that it will routinely monitor government as well as private schools to check whether they are adhering to the Standard Operating Procedures on Covid-19.

T. Sivakumar, District Educational Officer of Dharapuram educational district, was quoted as saying by a news agency, “During our inspections, we are also checking the vaccination certificates of teaching and non-teaching faculty members in schools.”
