The controversy circling the season 2 of Amazon Prime Video's 'The Family Man' is getting bigger day by day. With the recent development of events, Tamil Nadu government has demanded centre to ban the release oftnhe show as it presents Tamil people and culture in bad light. The main antagonists of the show are LTTE rebels, an organisation which historically struggled for the rights on Eelam Tamil in Sri Lanka. Portraying them as terrorists is being considered disheartening and insensitive towards people of Tamil Nadu.
Information Technology Minister T Mano Thangaraj's letter to Union Minister Prakash Javadekar read that the web series "aimed at discrediting and distorting the historical struggle of Eelam Tamils in Sri Lanka.” "For example, branding Tamil speaking actress Samantha as a terrorist in the serial is directly an attack on the pride of Tamils living around the world and no one will tolerate this kind of motivated and mischievous campaign."
Tamil nationalist leader S Seeman said, “If they refuse to ban the show and if they release it country-wide to try and create a false impression about Tamil people, I warn that they will have to face dire consequences."
