The latest official update regarding the coronavirus patients in Tamil Nadu is far from encouraging as the total number has raised to 1073 with 98 testing positive in the last 24 hours. 91 of the new patients have got the infection through the single source event which has accounted for the majority of patients in the state. Among the remaining seven three are doctors and four are contacts of other patients.

Fifty-eight patients have recovered from the disease till now with the death count remaining unchanged from the eleven reported till yesterday. 62 people with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection were tested for COVID 19 today but none of them are positive cases. The total number in the whole of India has risen to 9352 with 905 new positive cases and 51 deaths reported in the last 24 hours and the total death toll stands at 324.
