A 36-year-old transgender woman from Coimbatore, who underwent sex-change surgery in 2011, has demanded police protection after her family allegedly tortured her to become a 'man' again.

The woman, who is a B.Tech graduate, underwent the surgery when she was in Singapore in 2011 and has now alleged that her family members are demanding her to become a man again by chopping off her hair and forcing her to dress up like a man. She later reportedly went to Sivaganga to seek help from her relatives, but when they tortured her as well, she decided to go to the police.

The trans woman has now sought police protection, claiming that her life is in danger. She has also requested the government to provide her with a job in order to live independently.
