In a shocking incident reported from Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore, a man allegedly livestreamed his suicide on social media on Wednesday.
The deceased man, identified as 37-year-old Ramkumar, hailed from the Chinnaravuthanpalayam village near Dharapuram in the Tirupur district and was residing with his wife and 13-year-old son in a rental house near Pooluvapatti Pirivu in Tirupur city. He worked as a driver while his wife was employed as a tailor. According to a report by a news agency, Ramkumar returned home in an inebriated condition on Wednesday at 1 pm and locked his room from the inside. After that, he logged into his Facebook account, turned on the live option and streamed his suicide. The people who happened to come across the video immediately contacted the Tirupur city police and alerted them. Ramkumar's wife called the landlady of her house when she came to know of the incident and found her husband hanging off the ceiling inside his room when they broke the door open together. He was rushed to the Tirupur Medical College and Hospital immediately, but was declared dead on arrival.
A suicide note was found in his room where Ramkumar had mentioned that nobody was responsible for his death and that he had lost interest to live in the world. His wife reportedly mentioned that the deceased had already attempted suicide once seven years ago but was saved on time by his family. A case has been registered at the Anupparpalayam police station and investigation of the matter is currently underway.
