The Internet has been one of the most exciting and powerful inventions of the century, owing to the fact that it quite literally provides access to information about almost every aspect of life. Although social media and video-sharing websites such as YouTube and TikTok have had a positive impact on people with respect to education and entertainment, the adverse effects of the same are impossible to ignore.
The video-sharing app has claimed the life of yet another individual as a 22-year-old man, identified as Vigneswaran, who is a resident of Rayarpalayam in Coimbatore, was trying to record a video in a lake along with his friends. In the video, he is seen sitting over a bull inside the lake beside his friends and a couple of other friends on the shore are recording the same. The bull then moves to a deeper area taking Vigneswaran along, while his friends helplessly watch. Vigneswaran, who did not know swimming, drowned and died. The body of the deceased has been sent to a government hospital in Coimbatore for post-mortem. An FIR has reportedly been registered.
The "express yourself" video app that allows its users to share short clips of their talents/performances gained traction in India recently, with at least 20 million people from the country currently using the application.
