Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday to reconsider the decision to conduct competitive examinations, including the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical and dental courses.
The CM cited the spread of Covid-19 pandemic and urged PM Modi to cancel the exams this year. In a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister through video conference to discuss Covid related issues, CM Stalin said, "We are making all preparations to manage a possible third wave. For that, I appeal to the Union government to allocate more resources to the state. I assure that Tamil Nadu will take all necessary steps to effectively handle this pandemic and stand firm with you to overcome this challenge."
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya recently announced that the NEET (Undergraduate) (NEET-UG) will be held on September 12, 2021 while the NEET Postgraduate (NEET-PG) will be conducted on September 11, 2021. Details regarding the application can be found in the National Testing Agency (NTA) website -- neet.nta.nic.in.
