The language exam for the class 12 State Board students of Tamil Nadu, which was scheduled to be held on May 3, has been postponed to May 31. The vote counting for the Tamil Nadu assembly election set to be held on May 2, 2021 is reportedly the reason behind the postponement.
The Directorate of Government Examinations made the announcement on Monday, adding that the remaining exams shall be conducted as per schedule. The statement reportedly read, "Students were scheduled to begin their board exams on May 3 with the language paper. As counting of votes polled for the Assembly election will take place on May 2, a decision was made to postpone it. However, the rest of the exams will be held as scheduled. The standard operating procedures to be followed during the exam will be announced later."
The board exams in Tamil Nadu this year have been delayed due to a rise in the number of cases of Covid-19 across the state. Around 8 lakh students from class 12 will be appearing for the State Board Exam this year.
