Tamil Nadu has re-imposed the 50% occupancy limit in cinema halls. In doing so, it has followed States such as Maharashtra and Karnataka. The rule applies both to multiplexes and single screens.

The limit also applies to grocery shops, restaurants, malls, showrooms, recreational clubs, entertainment parks, etc.

The government has also mandated that not more than 200 people shall be allowed to participate in political, cultural and other events. This comes days after the State concluded Assembly elections.

A ban on religious gatherings has been imposed from April 10 onwards. Such a ban already is in force in Telangana.

Not more than 100 people can participate in weddings, while the limit is 50 for funerals. Sports events shall be held without spectators.
