Popular Chennai YouTuber Madhan OP was summoned by the police based on allegations of online abuse of women. At least two people have registered a complaint with the Pulianthope Cyber Crime against the man, alleging that he uses explicit language with women, including minor girls.
Madhan OP, who started a channel in 2019 and has over 7 lakh subscribers on YouTube, uploads videos showing tricks and tactics around the popular online battle royale PUBG. The matter apparently came to light when another YouTuber, named Jason Samuel, posted a two-hour long video explaining how Madhan targeted young girls and harassed them.
"While he plays he usually communicates with fellow gamers. He has uploaded hundreds of videos most of which have crossed over million views. On most of his videos, one can find him using derogatory language. Interestingly, this had got everyone's attention and several youngsters liked them," a police official was quoted as saying by a news agency.
The officer added, "Recently, while playing with teenage girls he had used derogatory words. We received several complaints from multiple contacts. Some have filed a complaint that whenever a girl texts him online through Instagram Madhan responds and builds contact and asks for money claiming that he is needed and later stops responding."
Madhan was summoned by the Pulianthope Cyber Crime police for enquiry on Monday based on the complaints. However, the police later revealed that the YouTuber was absconding and that they were attempting to track him down. Another YouTube channel of the accused, titled 'Toxic Madhan' has 1 lakh subscribers.
