A Chennai based actor who has appeared in a web series and a number of short films has been arrested by the Teynampet police after he allegedly made a hoax bomb call to a star hotel in the locality.

The accused has been identified as Kennedy John Gangadharan, who has been residing in Puzhal. According to a report by a news agency, Kennedy is currently shooting for a web series and the manager of the firm, identified as Mahesh, had asked the actor to meet him at a star hotel in Teynampet regarding work related to the shoot of the movie. Kennedy then arrived at the hotel and waited for over an hour before he got a call from the manager again informing him of the shoot being cancelled. Upset and frustrated, Kennedy allegedly made a hoax bomb call to the hotel at 10.30 am. He apparently called the police control room as well and said that a bomb had been planted at the hotel premises and that it would go off any minute. A bomb squad was dispatched to the hotel and a search was conducted for over an hour following which the team realized that the call was hoax.

A case was immediately registered at the Teynampet police station. Kennedy was then identified and traced. He revealed that he had made the hoax call over frustration due to the shoot being cancelled. Further investigation is currently in progress.
