In a heartbreaking incident reported from Tamil Nadu's Chennai, a class 12 girl took her own life as she apparently secured a low score in her board exams.
The deceased girl, identified as Preethi, was residing in Madhavaram. She was found hanging in her apartment on Friday while she was reportedly at home all alone. The police have claimed that the girl was depressed over the result of her board exams as she secured a low mark in one of the subjects. The results of Class 12 were announced on Thursday, a day before Preethi decided to take the extreme step. Her body has been sent for a post-mortem while further investigation of the matter is currently underway.
In a similar incident reported from UP, a 17-year-old student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya was found hanging in the bathroom of his hostel in March after writing one of his board examinations. He allegedly took the extreme step due to the fear of failing the exam. In a six-page suicide note, the boy had mentioned that he was under depression after writing the physics paper.
