Tamil Nadu to become Apple product manufacturing hub!

In a massive move to uplift the state, Tamil Nadu will soon become the hub for manufacturing Apple products for global market. In the state cabinet meeting held yesterday, 34 industrial projects worth Rs 52,257 crore including component manufacturers for Apple like Tata Electronics, Pegatron Corporation, Taiwan, and Luxshare of Taiwan were given clearance.

It has been said that this investment will generate employment for around 94,000 people in TN. Tamil Nadu has manufacturing facilities of Foxconn and Salcomp, and with clearance given to Tata Electronics, Pegatron and Luxshare, TN will become Apple products manufacturing hub.

The cabinet meeting also witnessed approval of the New Industrial Policy of Tamil Nadu. Tata Electronics is investing Rs 5,763 crore generating 18,250 jobs in Krishnagiri district for mobile phone component making. Pegatron is set to invest Rs 1,100 crore in the first phase generating 14,000 jobs for making mobile phones in Mahindra World City, Luxshare will invest 745 crore and create 4,000 jobs, Sun Edison invests Rs 4,629 crore and employ 5,400 people, Ola Electric is set to invest Rs 2,354 crore employing 2,200 people. Besides, Eickhoff Wind Ltd will invest Rs 621 crore employing 300 people and BASF is investing Rs 345 crores, Lucas TVS is investing Rs 2,500 crore and will employ 3,500 people in its plant.
