Tamil heroes Obsession for Bearded look

Tamil cinema heroes have had a fascination for beards from time immemorial with even the greats MGR and Sivaji going for it in a number of films. Directors in the past wrote a bearded look for their heroes mostly if they have lost a love or wife or if they take up the entire burden of the family and become martyrs. In modern times the stubble is not a symbol of tragedy, but more of a style statement and here we take a look at the current top heroes who have banished the razor and still look cool.

Vijay Antony

The 'Pichaikaaran' star Vijay Antony is riding a high wave of success and is currently on the verge of completing Lyca Productions 'Yeman' a thriller. The music director turned hit hero is sporting the beard in this film.

G.V.Prakash Kumar

The latest young sensation GVP seems to have caught on with the young brigade and he seems to favor the bearded in 'Enakku Innoru Paer Irukku' , 'Bruce Lee' as well as 'Kadavul Irukkiran Kumaru'.

As a hero S.J. Surya mostly appeared with a clean shaven look and though people enjoyed his dialogue delivery and youthful direction he did not get much recognition as an actor. The super talented Vijay Sethupathi has a permanent beard and in spite of that manages to give an amazing individuality to every character he plays. After 'Iraivi' he continues with the look in 'Rekka' and 'Dharma Durai'.

Dhanush

The beard goes well with Dhanush as evidenced in the films like 'Pudhupettai' and now in 'Kodi' he plays dual characters and for one of them, he is sporting a thick beard which gives him a never before seen sober look.

Madhavan

Chocolate boy Madhavan has always appeared in urban clean shaved mode and his comeback film 'Irudhi Suttru' threw a surprise bearded and rugged look which was embraced by the audience who made his film an all time big hit in his career.
