The coronavirus pandemic has forced the shutdown of many businesses including the cinema industry whose members depend on daily wages to a large extend apart from the stars. The government allowed standalone businesses to function from May 4th and The Tamil Film Producers Council and FEFSI gave petitions to allow the same for the industry.
The Tamil Nadu government has given permission to restart post-production work in Tamil cinema from Monday, May 11th. Accordingly, five persons will be allowed each for editing, dubbing, re-recording, sound mixing and digital intermediate while ten persons will be allowed for visual graphics and computer graphics works.
The producers have been instructed to ensure that social distancing is strictly followed and sanitization of premises and persons and mask procedures are adhered to by all the workers. This has come as welcome news for many producers whose films are in the post-production stage that can not only be completed and ready for business but also help them in saving interests and loans.
