RIP! Veteran Tamil actor Amarasigamani passes away

Veteran actor and poet Amarasigamani passed away in the early hours of today June 21 in Chennai. According to his son Parthiban Sigamani, the seventy-year-old had a mild cardiac arrest last night and breathed his last at 4 am this morning.

Amarasigamani who was also said to have been suffering from Parkinson's disease over the last few years is survived by his wife Shayamala Devi, three sons and a daughter. Parthiban Amarasigamani on Twitter broke the sad news writing, “It is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the death of our beloved father Kalaimamani D. Amarasigamani. Rest In Peace Appa (sic)”.

Amarasigamani Deivasigamani is not only an accomplished actor who has appeared in several Tamil films but also a well-recognized poet winning awards for both. He has been involved in theater from the times of greats such as V.Gopalakrishnan., S.V Sahasranamam and Komal Swaminathan. His most notable films roles are in 'Sivaji The Boss' starring Rajinikanth and 'Ramana' starring Vijayakanth.

Amarasignamani has played prominent roles and impressed audiences with his subtle acting in many noted Tamil serials that include 'Sontham', 'Uravugal,', 'Ahaylya' and 'Ponnoonjal'. The film and television fraternity are posting their condolences on social media while his last rites were held at 4pm at Madipakkam in Chennai.
