Actress Tamannah has won the prestigious Shantharam Award for her performance in the 2008 Telugu film ‘Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam’. The award was announced on the 13th of December and she is the only actress from South India to have won a Shantaram award, say the sources. Moreover, the director of the same film, Kishore Kumar has also won the award for the category of Best Debut Director.

The Rajkamal Academy of Cinematic Excellence (RACE) is giving out these awards for the last 15 years annually after the legendary filmmaker V. Shantharam. The legend is a powerful Hindi cinema name, who is said to have transformed Bollywood into poetry. So awards named after him definitely have a gloss.

The Shantharam awards are given to talents from filmy talents allover India. Last year, it was ‘A Wednesday’ which swept away most of the awards.

Kiran Kumar Shantharam, Chairman RACE, said the winners in different categories of the awards would be announced on December 21 in Mumbai.
