Hindi film actress Surveen Chawla has stated that there was a time when she had self-doubts about her appearance because of what people said about her in Mumbai. Years after starting out as a TV actress in 2003, Surveen graduated from TV to Bollywood films. It was not easy for her.
In her most recent interview, the actress suggested that she also had to encounter the problem of the casting couch. The 'Sacred Games' artist made these remarks in also in reference to the South Indian film industry.
In the interview, the actress added that she was made to go through an experience of self-doubt as her appearance, waist size, chest size, and weight were questioned. Surveen indicated that there are certain parameters as to how a woman should look and it's not acceptable.
Surveen is only the latest artist to talk about the problem of body-shaming and casting couch prevalent in the film industry. Since the 'Me Too' movement in 2018, a number of female actors have come out against the trend.
