Recently, a stand-up comedian named Manoj Prabhakar from Tamil Nadu trolled Mahesh Babu's acting skills and appearance. Although he has since apologized to the actor and his fans for the "offensive" comments in a mock show, MAA has written to Nadigar Sangam (the South Indian Artists' Association), asking it to take action against Manoj.
"We are utterly shocked that the comedian has made derogatory comments about Mahesh Babu, about his personality and acting talents in an awards function. The comments have created a furore in the southern states.
Though these are the irresponsible comments of an individual, we feel it will reflect to a certain extent on the esteemed Nadigar Sangam," the letter, signed by senior actor Naresh (MAA's General Secretary), says.
The letter asks the Nadigar Sangam to take action against the comedian so as to "restore the beautiful relationship" between the Telugu and Tamil film industries.
The letter invokes the names of legends like NTR and MGR to drive home the message that the bond between the two industries has been great.
