Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha M.P. Subramaniam Swamy has said that the world-renowned Taj Mahal was actually built on arrogated land. He further said that he would be revealing more information about the origin of the monument in the days to come.
Taj Mahal has been having ‘troubled times’ ever since the BJP swept to power on its own in Uttar Pradesh in March this year. Yogi Adityanath was the surprise choice as the State’s chief-minister. Significantly enough, Taj was ‘omitted’ from a list released by the State Govt. which contained the names of places of tourist interest. Despite criticism, it appears that the neglect of the ‘Taj’ is likely to continue.
After BJP MP Vinay Katiyar’s statement that the Taj was erected after the demolition of a temple of Lord Shiva on the same spot, it is now Swamy’s turn to join the issue. “I endorse Katiyar’s views in this regard,” Swamy has said.
“I have access to more data/information on how Taj Mahal came up. Shahjahan usurped the land, which belonged to the kings of Jaipur, to erect Taj Mahal. He gave 40 villages in return to the Kings but their total land value is far less compared to the land where the Taj stands today. There was also a temple on the same spot and I’m to reveal more information on the issue very soon,” Swamy concludes.
