Tabu’s Powerful Avatar in ‘Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road’ Grabs Attention

Director Puri Jagannadh and versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi are teaming up for the first time for the pan-India action drama ‘Slum Dog: 33 Temple Road’. The film, which blends raw emotions, powerful action and mystery, has already generated curiosity with its title, first look and teaser. Now, the makers have released a striking glimpse introducing Tabu’s character.

The glimpse opens with the rough and gritty atmosphere of a city slum before introducing Tabu as Gauri Hegde. Stepping out of a car and lighting a cigarette, she makes a commanding entry that immediately establishes the authority of her character.

Gauri Hegde is not portrayed as an ordinary officer. In the glimpse, she fearlessly confronts a local goon, warns him and even slaps him without hesitation. She is later seen taking on troublemakers with a lathi, making it clear that she is a woman who refuses to back down under any circumstances.

The words ‘One Fearless Woman’, ‘Powerful Officer’, ‘Ruthless’, ‘Merciless’ and ‘Devil In The Department’ appearing in the glimpse further reveal the nature of her character. The highlight comes towards the end when Tabu introduces herself as “Gauri Hegde, Deputy Commissioner, Income Tax.” The introduction carries the unmistakable Puri Jagannadh touch.

The glimpse also features a few intriguing shots of Vijay Sethupathi, although the makers have carefully kept his character under wraps. The connection between Gauri Hegde and Vijay Sethupathi’s character remains a mystery, adding another layer of curiosity to the film.

Tabu’s screen presence, body language and attitude give Gauri Hegde a strong identity. The character appears to be one of the major attractions of the film, while the raw setting and mass-oriented presentation add to the overall appeal.

Sam K Naidu is handling the cinematography, while Harshavardhan Rameshwar is composing the music and Santhosh Noojilla is editing the film. Samyuktha plays the female lead, while Duniya Vijay, Brahmaji and VTV Ganesh appear in key roles.
