Comedy actor Venu Madhav was in Kodad on Friday to file his nomination as an Independent candidate ahead of the assembly elections in Telangana. The constituency in Suryapet district is his hometown.
When the artist, who went dressed up as a typical politician, submitted his papers, the Returning Officer reportedly rejected the nomination on grounds that the forms were inadequately filled up. Venu came out of the government office and told the reporters he will come back to file the nomination on Saturday or Monday.
It was in Kodad that Venu completed his studies and started out as a mimicry artist. Slowly, he took to entertainment by giving performances at the political rallies of Telugu Desam Party. He developed contacts with TDP leaders in this way. He started bagging opportunities in movies and eventually went on to become one of the most sought-after comedians in Tollywood, sharing screen space with big stars like Chiranjeevi, NTR, Prabhas and others in the 2000s.
