'Sye Raa' length: Learning from the 'Saaho' blunder

At 173 minutes or so, 'Saaho' has been described as one of the lengthiest showreels ever in the history of Indian cinema. Frankly, it shouldn't have been painful at all. 'Arjun Reddy' was longer and the likes of 'Srimanthudu' were close enough. What made the film look too lengthy, of course, is its shoddy content. Even the Hindi audience, who are not alien to watching long movies, have complained about Saaho's run-time.
Keeping the feedback of the audience and the lamentations of film critics in mind, Ram Charan's team is said to be rethinking the run-time of 'Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy'. "Action films tend to have lengthy showreels at the edit table. For example, in the beginning, 'Saaho' had a run-time of 4 hours. It was edited and re-edited to bring down the length to 173 minutes. Since 'Sye Raa', too, is more about battle scenes and all, its makers seems to have ended up with a similar situation," says a source.
Anil Thadani and Farhan Akhtar, who are associated with the Hindi version of the Megastar Chiranjeevi movie, have rumouredly asked Surender Reddy to keep the 'Saaho' experience in mind.
The film, starring also Amitabh Bachchan, will hit the screens on October 2.
