Sye

Sye promises to be the most exciting, and in a sense, enigmatic movie of the season. Directed by S S Chandramouli, whose last film was the mega hit Simhadari with NTR Jr, Sye looks a stylized product with some stunning background.

The two most surprising aspects of the film is the hero's Nitin's looks and the choice of sports that form an important backdrop of the film.

Nitin, the boy-faced hero, looks a man in this film --- he has stubble and a don't-mess-around-with-me kind of looks. Nitin is said to have done extensive homework before getting himself ready for the role.

And as far as rugby goes, it is an interesting choice. But, as the director says, the game forms an important part of the film. Insiders say that if it was kabaddi in Okkadu, then it is rugby in Sye. The film is not however about the sport but the challenges that come with it (the film's tagline is: `A Challenge')

Chandramouli has woven a crafty youth story in a chic urban setting with oodles of mass entertainment items.

The music, of Keeravani that is already a hit, gives a film an exotic feel. The promos, with heroine Genelia in seductive outfits, have also set the tongues wagging.

But Genelia feels that the role, which is very close to her heart, will be talk-of-the-town soon. "I am playing a vivacious college student who cares about others. I am like that in real life too. The role is very strong and gives me a lot of scope to prove my skills as an actress,"she says.

The dances, especially the one in the disco-cum-bar, have been well choreographed. Genelia feels that Chandramouli has given her the best possible role. "He has carefully constructed my character and has come up with an effective screenplay."

Hmm...sounds interesting.

Let's see whether the show in the theatres bear Genelia out.
