This week, Ganesh Bellamkonda is making a debut with 'Swathi Muthyam', releasing in theatres on October 5. In this interview, the debutant talks about the film, his character, Sithara Entertainments, and more.
He also says that he is a trained actor who keeps interest in all crafts of filmmaking. He is fond of his father, producer Bellamkonda Suresh, and hopes that his father once again starts producing movies.
Highlights:
Film sets are not new to me. I have always been on sets. I used to be behind the camera, doing works on the production front. I have always wanted to become an actor. I took a serious plunge in the year 2016, when I started getting trained in acting. I learned about how to act in close-up shots, etc.
Coming to 'Swathi Muthyam', director Lakshman K Krishna contacted me through a common friend. It was a hilarious script that was taken to producer S Naga Vamsi. Sithara Entertainments has produced the movie without compromises.
If the story is fresh and engaging, the audience will like the movie regardless of the genre. Coming to my character, Bala Murali is soft. I am not like him in real life. Ganesh and Bala Murali are two different personalities.
Sperm donation is the only commonality between our film and 'Vicky Donor' (Hindi). The sperm donation element is not what the entire film is about. It's just a 10-minute thing.
These days, the audience are not visiting theatres if there is nothing new or fresh in it. 'Swathi Muthyam' has got something new. We made this film with the conviction that it will click with the audience.
This film is a situational comedy. You will leave the audience with a smile on your face. There is no vulgarity anywhere. Right from the start, nowhere is the film embarrassing. It's a clean family entertainer.
It's great to act alongside the likes of Rao Ramesh garu and VK Naresh garu in my very first film. It was a very good experience. Acting is about how the other one reacts to our performance. Acting with talented artists improved my timing.
My father (Bellamkonda Suresh) listened to the story and felt that I should make a debut with it. I always wanted to make a debut in someone else's banner. I have learned dancing and martial arts. But I didn't get to showcase those talents in my first movie. I wanted to try all genres, although rom-coms are my comfort genre.
My first film was supposed to be with director Pavan Sadineni. After it was launched, the pandemic struck. Due to the lockdown, we couldn't get visas to the US. We had to do a 25-day schedule in the US. If the producer of that movie calls me, I am ready to resume the shoot and complete it.
There definitely is some nervousness that 'SM' is competing with 'GodFather' and 'The Ghost'. That said, Dasara is a huge festival. I am confident that the audience are going to watch our movie, too. Music director Mahati Swara Sagar, cinematographer Suryaa and editor Navin Nooli are super efficient. I have full confidence in the final product.
I want to do courses in direction, cinematography, etc. I want to learn all cinema crafts.
Director Lakshman was open to listening to suggestions given by Naga Vamsi garu and China Babu garu. He changed the climax. Doing the film didn't feel like an effort. I was natural and behaved the way we would behave in real life. I jotted down my observations on paper and acted.
None in my family have watched the film. We are going to watch 'SM' this evening with the media at a multiplex in Hyderabad. Sithara Entertainments has been making family-friendly movies. I am glad to have made a debut under the banner. Moreover, I have known producer Vamsi garu since 2014.
'Nenu Student' is my next release. It's a thriller and it will be ready in a couple of months.
I respect the production values in my father's movies. If he revives his banner and makes a new movie, I will be very happy.
