Last year the brutal murder of a young techie named Swathi, under broad daylight in Nungambakkam Railway station in Chennai shook the entire state. Later a youngster named Ramkumar of Meenakshmipuram in Tirunelveli district was arrested as the suspect and kept in Judicial custody. During the trail, Ramkumar also died and the police officers claimed that he committed suicide by biting a live electric wire.
A fictional account of the entire case is being made as a film titled as 'Swathi Kolai Vazhakku'. The film directed by debutant SD Ramesh Selvan will apparently narrate the story from the perspective of the investigation officer played by Ajmal. Newcomers are playing the roles of Swathi and Ramkumar. The trailer of 'Swathi Kolai Vazhakku' was released a couple of days back and it was being widely shared by youngsters in Social media. The director has claimed that the film will unveil many unknown secrets about the death of Swathi and Ramkumar. He also said the film will be showed to the parents of Swathi and the parents of Ramkumar before release.
Now the deceased girl's father Santhana Gopalakrishnan has given a complaint letter to the Director General of Police to ban the film as it has been taken without getting permission from his family. The petition also noted that making a film about the horrendous event will inflict pain to the parents and family members of Swathi.
