Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker, who was recently shown masturbating in 'Veere Di Wedding', has come to be trolled for the scene. In the scene's defence, the actress has said that the element is there in the movie for a reason.

"Sakshi (Swara's character) was in her PRIVATE bedroom.. not public. Masturbation is about owning your body, sexuality. It's empowering. In a culture that largely silences or ignores or shames female sexuality showing a girl gratifying herself in a film in a non-judgemental way is empowering," the actress writes.

It goes without saying that she has been trolled for "saying that masturbation is empowerment". "Stop watching soft porn... Focus on content-based cinema.....A question though: How many men have claimed empowerment after masturbation?" tweets one KK Mehra. "Alcohol, masturbation, abuse and commitment issues is not what women empowerment stands for," remarks one Mansi Potter.
