Having won accolades, awards and a host of nominations for her portrayal of the feisty ‘BINDIYA’ in the popular hit film ‘Raanjhanaa’, Swara Bhaskar has been receiving numerous film offers. However, the actress was facing a curious dilemma. The script and her role in Raanjhanaa had set the standard so high that Swara was unable to find a script/role of that caliber or like any script or part that was coming to her.

Finally 10 months after the release of Raanjhanaa, Swara has signed Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari's 'Nil Battey Sannaata' produced by Ajay G Rai, JAR Pictures, in which she plays the lead and the role of a mother. Titled after the colloquial North Indian phrase meaning a 'hopeless or gone case’, the film is the story of a mother and daughter and their curious relationship and constant tug of war.

The story is conceived by Ashwiny's husband Nitesh Tiwari who is also the director of the recent and acclaimed hit Bhoothnath Returns and the screenplay is jointly written by Ashwiny, Nitesh and their team of writers Neeraj and Pranjal. Unlike other heroines Swara seems unafraid to play an older age bracket, and play a mother early in her career.

Talking about her choice of film and role Swara says, After Raanjhanaa I was stuck in a curious conundrum. Despite numerous offers I was just not liking any script. On a daily basis I was refusing one or two films. I had loved the script of Raanjhanaa and my character Bindiya; and doing Raanjhanaa and feeling all the love and praise I was honoured to receive after the release only raised the standard higher for the next project I would commit to. I didn't want to let my viewers down, and for myself as an actor I wanted to raise the bar. Finally after almost 10 months I found a script I really liked Ashwiny Iyer's 'Nil Battey Sannaata'. The story is based on a lovely and unique plot idea which is both original and curious and yet expresses emotions that are universal. I play a mother in the film which is my first and will present a huge challenge to me as an actor. I've been asked if I’m scared of being typecast or whether I was hesitant to play an older age - bracket. I just felt it was a great and challenging part and I didn't want to pass it up basis any insecurity or speculation. I hope I’m able to rise to the challenge of playing the role with ease and conviction. Ashwiny is a sensitive director and Nitesh Tiwari is a brilliant writer and director as we've seen in Bhootnath Returns. They've created a great script and it deserves a great performance. I hope I can deliver.
