Double entendre and humor is the trademark of Sathyaraj. In Suyatchi MLA he plays a politician who becomes Chief Minister.
Director Guru Dhanapal's Suyatchai MLA assumes significance in the present political climate. A lorry driver and his cleaner are lured to politics. The driver contests on an independent ticket and surprisingly wins the election. Prakashraj who heads a big political party runs short of one vote to form the government. The bargaining starts for the MLA's support. The MLA who is offered lucrative amounts of cash does not budge. Later on portfolios are offered and in the bargain the MLA finally ends up as Chief Minister. The party that backs him decides to use him as a rubber stamp. The MLA finds out as things start moving that he could get into trouble if he kept on signing files that Prakashraj orders him to do. He then starts resisting such moves which irks the political party chief. Further still he develops guilt about sitting in a chair which had noble men like Kamraj and MGR as Chief Minister. He stops indulging in corruption. .
The film which lays tread bare the various current happenings in the State and Center is expected to create ripples. After the success of Adithadi the trade laps up every film of Sathyaraj. The film has a popular MGR song which was shot on Sathyaraj and Goundamani driving a lorry carrying an elephant in the back.
Goundamani plays Sathyaraj's aide. Nasser, Ponnambalam, Delhi Ganesh, Manthra, Mallika and Abitha are among others cast in the film. Sabesh and Murali are the music composers and D.Shankar is the cinematographer.
