In 2017, it was announced that Sushant Singh Rajput will star in India's first space film titled 'Chanda Mama Door Ke'. SSR was set to play an astronaut in the film. This was a perfect casting since Sushant was fond of astrophysics and cosmic phenomenas. As a preparation for this role, he even underwent training at NASA.
The project underwent many delays and didn't take off for a couple of years. Now after the actor's death, director Sanjay Puran Singh has intentions to revive the film as a tribute to Sushant. He said that Sushant was so attached to script that it is hard to find a replacement for him.
Sanjay said, "The film is not shelved. I hope I will be able to translate on screen what I have visualised in my head and put on paper. That said, I am not reviving it right away as it has not been even a year to Sushant’s passing; his loss has been emotionally exhausting.”
“Whenever I make the film, it will be a tribute to Sushant. He was so attached to the script that I owe this to him. He had given a lot of inputs to the film."
