Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput and his former manager Disha Salian died by suicide within a week of each other and there have been several speculations surrounding their deaths. A chat that happened between the two of them via WhatsApp in April 2020 has now emerged online.
According to a report by a news agency, Disha apparently questioned Sushant regarding a brand endorsement for an edible oil in April, and he sought details regarding the same. She contacted him again a few days later and spoke about a digital campaign for the popular online battle royale PUBG, where the two of them discussed another promotional campaign which would require him to speak to his fans over the phone. When reports linked Sushant's death to Disha's, the former's lawyer rubbished the claims. "I never met Disha. It is absolutely bizarre and illogical. I did not have any interaction or email exchange. I remember reaching out to Sushant that your name is being dragged into it when this news broke out. This is how much we knew her. I had no interaction with her," Sushant's lawyer reportedly stated.
Sushant's death was initially considered suicide as a result of depression. However, in recent developments, Sushant's family filed a complaint against the late actor's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty of abetting his suicide, accusing her of fraud, among other things. Based on the information, Rhea was booked under sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code. Meanwhile, Sushant's psychologist-therapist, Susan Walker, informed a journalist that the actor was suffering from bipolar disorder. She had reportedly stated, "Sushant was suffering terribly during his bouts of depression and hypomania. I met Sushant and Rhea on several occasions in November and December 2019 and communicated again with Rhea in June of this year. Sushant was suffering from bipolar disorder, a severe mental illness that can be crippling for an individual during an episode.
Disha had jumped off the 12th floor of a building in Mumbai's Malad on June 9, less than week before Sushant was found hanging inside his apartment's room on June 14.
