Suriya-starrer Matraan is one of the most important films releasing this year in Tamil. The same, directed by KV Anand, is released as Duplicate in Telugu. Kajal Agarwal is paired opposite Suriya, while the music is by Harris Jayraj.

Speaking at the audio launch of the film, Anand said that the music by Harris has come out really well. He was all praise for the hero. Working with Suriya, planning for a scene with him is a pleasant experience. You can take him for granted. He is dedicated. As of Kajal, I have never seen a heroine who is very spontaneous, versatile and quick-witted.

Kajal termed Duplicate a truly intelligent film. It is not just entertainment, but the film makes you think and use your brains. It was a wonderful learning experience working for this film. Suriya is an amazing co-star and a true superstar, she said. She seems to have acted in some daredevil scenes in the movie. It was possible because of Peter Hynes, who could be trusted completely.

Suriya was of the opinion that Duplicate was not a no-brainer but a roller-coaster ride and offered 200 per cent entertainment. My association with KV Anand sir dates back to 1997 when he took my first photograph, which was published. He is more like an elder brother to me. It was he who motivated me to be vibrant. It is difficult to imagine a film like this in this canvas and budget. The level of planning that went into the film was great. We took 500 gunny bags from India to Russia. I would say that Anand sir is a mix of all best directors. Duplicate has great entertainment, it is logical and sensible.

The actor described Kajal as a down-to-earth actress.

Peter Hynes said that he had thrilling experience working for the film. He has made many gravity-defying fights for films like Aparichithudu and 7th Sense in the past, but this film was still tough and challenging.
