Suriya returned to India after his vacation on Wednesday. The actor is back in Chennai. While his father Sivakumar and brother Karthi visited Captain Vijayakanth's memorial yesterday, Suriya visited there today and paid last respects to the veteran actor and politician.
Suriya broke into tears while paying the final respects. Captain Vijayakanth played an extended cameo in Suriya's 'Periyanna' to boost his career in the early days. Later, he appeared in a guest role in Suriya's 'Maayavi' in which Suriya portrayed a fan of the legendary actor. Suriya met the media later and his speech is now going viral.
Suriya said, "Vijayakanth's death is unbearable and very sad. In the early days, when I was just four or five films old, I didn't get much appreciation and then I got an opportunity to act with him in 'Periyanna'. I got a chance to work with him for 8 to 10 days for this film. Every day he treated me like a brother. On the first day, he told me to sit and eat together.
Later, I prayed for my father's health and stopped eating non-veg food. He advised me to do something for my prayers because he wanted me to eat healthy as I worked hard. He took the meat from his plate and put it on my plate. He also fed me saying that the body required strength to work hard.
He took great care of me every day. I watched him in awe for those 8 days. Usually, the top stars stay away, but Vijayakanth keeps everyone by his side. You can talk to him anytime and he is easy to reach.
I was amazed by his bravery and personality every day when we visited Singapore and Malaysia. There was a desire to meet him again and talk to him but it was not fulfilled. There is no one else like him. My biggest regret is not being able to see him one last time."
