Suriya's new movie 'Vanangaan' also produced by him marks his reunion with his mentor director Bala after 'Nandaa', 'Pitha Magan', 'Maayavi' and 'Avan Ivan'. A major schedule of shooting happened in Kanyakumari and also at midsea in the Indian ocean. However there has been a long break after that and the next schedule has been planned in September that will take place in Goa.

Meanwhile there is talk in Kollywood that famous director A.L. Vijay has joined 'Vanangaan' to help out Bala in the scripting as well as execution. The busy filmmaker apparently agreed due to his immense respect for both Bala and Suriya. Insiders say that his calm posture in taking decisions on sets and his easy going nature in interacting with the cast and crew is why he was requested on board. Earlier director Sudha Kongara was with the team in the same capacity but she had to leave for Mumbai to direct the Hindi remake of her 'Soorarai Pottru' starring Akshay Kumar which is also produced by Suriya.

A.L. Vijay is currently shooting an untitled film starring Arun Vijay in the lead role and in the schedule breaks of that project he is involved in 'Vanangaan' and will reportedly take part in the shooting later this year as well. There is no official confirmation on this one yet.

'Vanangaan' has music by G.V. Prakash and stars Suriya, Krithi Shetty and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles. The film is said to be a raw thriller in true Bala style and is expcted to release in the second quarter of 2023. Suriya in the meantime will start shooting for his new film directed by Siruthai Siva and produced by UV Creations from August this year.
