Unfortunate fate of Suriya and Sudha Kongara's 'Purananooru'? - Here's what we know

Suriya has reunited with director Sudha Kongara following their successful collaboration on the National Award-winning movie 'Soorarai Pottru.' Their new project, titled 'Purananooru,' was announced with a stellar cast and is anticipated to focus on the anti-Hindi imposition movement in Tamil Nadu.

The creators of the film announced a few months ago that 'Purananooru' is on hold. During this period, Suriya began working on 'Suriya 44' with director Karthik Subbaraj. Now, reliable industry sources suggest that 'Purananooru' is no longer financially feasible and has been put on cold storage for the time being.

So, 'Purananooru' is shelved indefinitely but we have learnt that Suriya and Sudha Kongara will team up for a different project after the actor completes 'Suriya 44' and 'Vaadivaasal'. Meanwhile, Sudha Kongara is busy with the Hindi remake of 'Soorarai Pottru', titled 'Sarfira' starring Akshay Kumar, which is slated to hit the screens in July.
