Suriya's 'Soorarai Pottru' directed by Sudha Kongara became the first movie by one of the top five heroes in Tamil cinema to release directly on OTT. The film started streaming on Amazon Prime Video from November 12th winning one of the highest critical acclaims in recent years.

It has been reported that 'Soorarai Pottru' is one of the top three films in India for the year 2020 on Amazon Prime Video with tough competition from many Bollywood and regional language films of top heroes Analysts opine that the film's viewership if converted to theater collections could go near an unprecedented 500 Crores with some even saying that it is nearer 1000 Crores. Whatever may be the final figure its definitely going to be the biggest ever in Tamil cinema history according to sources.

'Soorarai Pottru' is also the second most tweeted hashtag after Sushant Singh Rajput's 'Dil Bechara' followed by Mahesh Babu's 'Sarlerru Neekevaru'. Suriya's hard work and dedication has paid off big time and his fans are celebrating with gusto on social media.

'Soorarai' Pottru' is jointly produced by 2D Entertainment and Shikya Entertainment with G.V. Prakash Kumar scoring the music and Nikkath Bommi handling the camera. The principle starcast comprises of Suriya, Aparna Balamurali, Urvashi, Paresh Rawal, Kaali Venkat, Vivek Prasanna and Mohan Babu.
