Suriya’s latest film Retro has set a new benchmark by delivering the highest opening day collection among all his previous releases — a feat that has thrilled fans across Tamil Nadu.
Directed by Karthik Subbaraj and featuring music by Santhosh Narayanan, Retro hit theatres yesterday and received a wave of positive reviews from audiences and critics alike after its first-day screenings.
Riding on strong pre-release buzz and favourable word of mouth, the film reportedly collected a massive ?17 crore on Day 1 in Tamil Nadu alone, according to trade sources. This makes Retro the biggest opening for a Suriya film in the state so far.
With the official worldwide collection figures expected to be revealed soon, industry insiders anticipate that Retro could be on track to become one of the biggest hits in Suriya’s career.
After a string of underwhelming box-office performances, including films like Gangvaa, Retro marks a powerful comeback for Suriya — much to the delight of his loyal fanbase.
