Suriya welcomes withdrawal of 5th and 8th standard public exams

Suriya is not only one of the leading superstars of South Indian cinema but also is a philanthropist who through his Agaram Foundation has helped hundreds of underprivileged children to achieve higher studies. The Tamil Nadu government had a proposal of introducing public exams for the 5th and 8th standard students which Suriya vehemently opposed.

Today the government has withdrawn the proposal and Suriya was one of the first among celebrities to thank the move. He has stated that it is very difficult to bring back students who drop out from schools as experienced by his Agaram foundations fieldwork. Pointing out that public exams are not the right scale to measure the talents of children he thanked the education minister and the ruling government for doing away with it.
