Promises a Spellbinding Sci-Fi Treat

The much expected teaser of actor Suriya`s `24` directed by Vikram Kumar will be released on this Friday that is on March 4. However the teaser was screened to the Indiaglitz, a couple of days in advance and here is our review of the 1 minute and 8 seconds long teaser.

The teaser starts off with a jumbled set of numbers setting the mood for a scientific base of the film`s story. Then Suriya takes over, with the three characters he plays in the film revealed in the teaser. The versatile star appears in five different getups and we can sure expect some surprises packed in, with respect to the five getups for three characters.

Suriya for the first time plays a deadly negative character in the film. This character seems to be the one with the formal coat-suit attire and the short beard, that appeared in the first look posters. The other two characters of Suriya are a slightly old character wearing specs and a dashing youngster. These two characters could be the father and his son. So we could safely assume that Suriya is the hero, villain and the victim who faces threat from the villain in the film.

The old Suriya character is chased by the baddie Suriya in search of his precious possession and this apparently forms the crux of the film. Samantha and Nithya Menen playing the pair for the younger and older Suriya respectively get a blink you will miss appearance.

The teaser has the glimpses of Goosebumps moments for the fans of Suriya as well as commercial movie buffs with the negative and the youngster characters. We can expect some mass moments for both these characters which will evoke loud cheers from Suriya fans. With the three characters, especially the negative one, we can expect an extraordinary never before seen scale of performance from Suriya.

Coming to the technical parts, the color tone selected by cinematographer Thirunavaukarasu aka Thiru is unique and perfectly suits the genre. Parwin Pudi has packaged the teaser with sharp and racy cuts and we can expect the same finesse explored in the film aswell. Art department has an important role in sci-fi flicks. The teaser shows that the Art director duo Amith and Subratha are going to stun us with their work in the film. The initial train shot, that science lab set and the huge machine set that could be understood as a time machine speak volumes of hard work and innovation that would have gone into the making.

Last but not the least, the re-recording of A.R.Rahman is simply amazing. Especially the noisy sound at the end of the teaser makes us expect that the Isaipuyal would treat us with some extraordinary music that will intensify the impact of the genre, story and performances of the film.

In short, if creating an expectation or increasing the already created expectation over a film is the primary purpose of releasing a teaser, we can give 100 marks to the director Vikram Kumar and his team for creating the teaser of 24` .
